Season’s strongest cold wave to grip nation Thursday

The season’s strongest cold wave is expected to grip the nation on Thursday, bringing down morning temperatures to as low as minus 18 C in some areas, weather authorities said Wednesday.

In the morning, cold winds from the northwest will blow strongly, causing the morning low to drop to between minus 18 C and minus 3 C.

In the central region, eastern North Jeolla Province and northern North Gyeongsang Province, morning temperatures are expected to hover around minus 15 C, while the rest of the southern regions will see lows around minus 10 C.

In Seoul, the morning low is forecast to be minus 12 C, with a wind chill of minus 19 C.

Temperatures are expected to drop further Friday morning, with the morning low forecast to range between minus 21 C and minus 5 C. (Yonhap)
